Description | Performance Responsibilities:
- Serve as volunteer coach for a CPS Sport or School Athletic Director.
- Assist with administrative and/or sporting events at a CPS School.
- Serves as a positive role model to help teach children the values of fair play, good sportsmanship, teamwork, dedication, and commitment.
- Assist with developing, monitoring, supervising, and motivating student-athletes to play a sport.
- Commit to building relationships with and have a willingness to coach both young women and young men academically and athletically.
- Assist with instructing student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
- Guide student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence and good sportsmanship.
- Work cooperatively and in a timely matter, with School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department, in regard to information that might be required periodically.
- Meet all requirements set forth by the District State Board of Education, the Ohio High School Athletics Association (OHSAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certificate and (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit.
- Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendents of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and OHSAA.
- Assist with checking the status of student-athletes academic eligibility.
- Model the behavior expected of student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
- Set a positive example at all times including the use of appropriate language.
- Show physical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport with use of good judgment and decision-making.
- Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
- Participate in School Events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.).
- Assist with ensuring that team is well-prepared for opponents.
- Follow the District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in job description.
Skills/Essential Functions:
- Fundraising experience.

- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Trainings/Certifications:
- Successful participation in a similar activity in high school and/or college.
- Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level desired.
- Provide a satisfactory result on a County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
- Possess a valid Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
- Provide satisfactory completion of the Coaches Tool Chest Training/Certification.
- Complete CPS Volunteer Agreement
