Reports to:  Senior Director of Curriculum Department and directly supports Rockdale 



General Function:

To serve as a resource, collaborator, and partner to schools by providing high-quality services and leadership in the following area: intensive and sustained support for improvement; standards-based education; program assessment and evaluation; strategies for effective instruction; curriculum design, development, implementation and evaluation; staff development; leadership and facilitation in school improvement initiatives; statewide legislative and Ohio Department of Education mandates and initiatives; implementation of the ODEW Literacy Improvement Grant. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Teachers with CPS Lead teacher credentials will be considered first. 
  • Experience teaching in both ELA and Foundational Reading
  • Credentials and certifications related to the Science of Reading

 

Skills and Knowledge

  • Recent classroom teaching and leadership experience in successful school-wide projects and evidence-based literacy strategies. 
  • Demonstrated skills and leadership in curriculum, instruction and assessment, project management, strong communication and interpersonal skills, positive attitude and ability to get things done. 
  • Interacts positively with district staff and community.
  • Exhibits strong and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Works collaboratively and cooperatively with others.
  • Expresses ideas clearly, correctly and effectively, in both oral and written form.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate the implementation ODEW’s Literacy Grant. 
  2. Align work to specific components of school improvement initiatives and/or assignments. 
  3. Assist districts and schools in analyzing data for the data-driven decision making. 
  4. Provide instructional and curriculum leadership for program development in academic content area based on academic standards and literacy. 
  5. Preview, introduce and present quality programs, resources and strategies for effective instruction. 
  6. Assist teachers in the improvement of instructional strategies through model teaching, coaching and/or mentoring. 
  7. Assist school with development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of continuous improvement plans. 
  8. Work closely with district leaders, principals and lead teachers to improve the quality of instruction. 
  9. Work with school and district personnel to build capacity to design and implement formative, short cycle assessments. 
  10. Promote sharing of innovative and successful instructional resources and strategies among educators. 
  11. Actively seek input from identified stakeholders to determine short- and long-range goals, objectives and staff/student needs. 
  12. Assume responsibility for maintaining professional courtesy in appropriate areas of education. 
  13. All other duties as assigned
