Position Overview
CPS teachers provide high-quality instruction where every student is known and valued. Our teachers uphold the mission and values of CPS and contribute to our goal that every student in Ohio has access to a high-quality public education. The High School Math Teacher serves students in grades 9-12. Our high school math teachers deliver data-driven instruction that engages students in mathematical reasoning, real-world modeling, and diverse problem-solving approaches. This position focuses on Geometry and Algebra II and is available at Taft High School.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning of all students
- Create and maintain a positive and safe academic atmosphere conducive to learning and the safety of students.
- Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
- Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offers improvement plans.
- Maintain effective and efficient records of student performance.
- Use technology tools consistently for the benefit of students' education.
- Communicate effectively, orally and written, with students, parents, and other professionals regularly.
- Collaborate with peers and school leaders to enhance instructional environments.
- Ensure student growth and achievement are continuous and appropriate for groups and subject areas.
- Accept responsibility for meeting his/her course and school-wide student performance goals.
- Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, and honoring schedules.
- involve parents, corporations, and the community in the education of their students.
- Maintain evaluation records in conformance with district guidelines.
- Maintain licensure requirements and professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.
- Communicate in a second language when applicable.
- Perform additional daily duties that may or may not directly relate to the subject area or licensure field.
Qualifications Education and Work Experience
- Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree or higher in secondary education from an accredited college or university. Mathematics or Physics preferred.
- Comfortable teaching Algebra II and Geometry.
- Credentials: Ohio Teacher license appropriate for subject(s) and grade levels taught.
- Ability to effectively meet the challenges, objectives, and mission of the CPS district.
- Ability to maintain professionalism with students and families.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated to human growth and development.
- Demonstrates commitment to serving an urban student demographic to academic achievement.
Contract, Salary and Benefits
- Contract Provisions: 191 days Limited Contract
- 9-12 Mathematics Teacher is a full-time, exempt position. We offer a competitive salary and an excellent healthcare and retirement benefits package. Certificated Classroom Teacher per CFT Cincinnati Federation of Teachers (CFT) agreement.
