Girls Flag Football is a new CPS sport being introduced in Spring 2025.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire Girls Flag Football Program.
  • Have the knowledge and experience needed to implement this new program.
  • Is knowledgeable about the game, particularly game management, and rules.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in offensive and defensive skills, passing, receiving, punting, kickoff, throwing, and catching.
  • Develop, monitor, supervise, and train young women to play competitive Flag Football.
  • Develop and execute an effective training program.
  • Motivate and mentor young women on and off the Field.
  • Instruct and guide student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
  • Instruct and guide student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
  • Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills development.
  • Manage game strategies and proper game day procedures.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
  • Cooperate, in a timely manner, with School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department in regard to requests for information that might be pertinent and/or periodically required.
  • Meet all the requirements set forth by the District Board of Education, The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/ Certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit.
  • Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
  • Follow the District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
  • Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
  • Maintain a suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
  • Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
  • Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative polices set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendents of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, ODE, and OHSAA.
  • Schedule and complete a full season of contests including State Tournament Games.
  • Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to student-athletes prior to the start of the season.  Follow appropriate due process procedures  when violations occur.
  • Participate in Clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
  • Participate in School events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.
  • Ensure that team is well-prepared for opponents.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Fundraising experience
  • Must be passionate and dedicated to inspire student-athletes.
  • Previous flag football experience preferred.
  • Have the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Serve as a positive role model.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills associated with the sport.

TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
  • Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the High School and/or College level is preferred.
  • Provide satisfactory result of County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and a FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
  • Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
  • Provide proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification.

CONTRACT PROVISIONS:

TYPE OF CONTRACT:  Supplemental Annual Limited 

SALARY:  Per Schedule E Contract of current C.F.T. Labor Agreement

 

REPORTS TO:  School Principal
