ATHLETICS GENERAL POOL - COACHING POSITIONS
Job Goals:
- Serve on coaching staff of a CPS Sport.
- Serves as a positive role model and help teach children the values of fair play, good sportsmanship, teamwork, dedication, and commitment.
- Develop, monitor, supervise, and motivate student-athletes to play a sport, both beginners and advanced runners.
- Commit to building relationships with and have a willingness to coach both young women and young men academically and athletically.
- instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
- Guild student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence and good sportsmanship.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Work cooperatively, and in a timely matter, with School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department in regard to information that might be required.
- Meet all of the requirements set forth by the District State Board of Education and The Ohio Department of Education relative to Coaches Tool Chest Trainings/Certificate and Pupil Activity Permit.
- Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA)
- Check student-athletes academic eligibility.
- Model the behavior expected of student-athletes including timeliness to practices, being positive and enthusiastic, being respect, and practice constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
- Set a positive example at all times through his/her example in appearance, behavior, language and conduct. Be appropriately dressed at all times.
- Maintain a suitable sideline conduct at all times including the use of appropriate language.
- Show physical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport with use of good judgment in decision-making.
- Assist with the scheduling of pre-season practices on the first day permitted for the sport.
- Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
- Participate in School Events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.).
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt properly to changing game situations.
- Is well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport as well as look at ways to constantly improve knowledge and coaching techniques.
- Is innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to already proven methods of coaching.
- Ensure that team is well-prepared for opponent(s).
- Provide motivation for team to meet/exceed their goals and stress the value of acceptable personal behavior by each student-athlete.
- Actively promote good sportsmanship at all times.
- Follow the District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in job description.
- Maintenance and inventory of equipment and supplies.
Skills/Essential Functions:
- Fundraising experience.

- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Trainings/Certifications:
- Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
- Successful participation in a similar activity in high school and/or college. Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is desired.
- Provide a satisfactory result on a County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check. Possess a valid Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit. Provide satisfactory completion of the Coaches Tool Chest Trainings/Certificate.
CONTRACT PROVISIONS:
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Supplemental Annual Limited
SALARY: Per Schedule E of current C.F.T. Labor Agreement
