Cincinnati Public Schools seeks internal and external Elementary Intramural Coaches and Referees for the upcoming 2024-25 academic school year.
General Statement of Responsibilities:
- This is a Pool for Elementary Intramural Coaching positions within the Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS).
- Coaches will be responsible for overseeing and/or refereeing elementary sports within Cincinnati Public Schools.
- Coaches will work closely with elementary students to help develop skills in Flag Football, Volleyball, T-Ball, Soccer, Basketball, Brain Bowl, and Track & Field as we prepare students in the classroom and in athletics.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Inspire, motivate, develop, and guide elementary students to play competitive sports.
- Build relationships and have the willingness to coach both beginners and advanced elementary students.
- Instruct elementary students of fundamental skills and strategies necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
- Oversee games and work with teams and students to promote good sportsmanship.
- Coach elementary students to have a better understanding of game rules and regulations.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students-athletes.
- Instruct/guide elementary students to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behaviors, self-discipline, and selfconfidence.
- Meet all requirements set forth by the District Board of Education and the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) in regard to mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) training and ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
- Set a positive example and maintain a suitable sideline conduct at all times.
- Be positive, compassionate, and caring about working with elementary age students.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
Skills/Essential Functions:
- Ability to motivate and inspire elementary age students.
- Ability to serve as a role model.
- Demonstrated knowledge of skills associated with the sport.
Trainings/Certifications:
- Evidence of successful past coaching experience preferred.
- Provide a satisfactory result on a County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
- Possess a Coaches Tool Chest Certification.
- Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
