Position Overview

The Intervention Specialist provides targeted support to students with diverse learning needs by creating individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting classroom instruction to foster academic and social growth. This role involves collaborating with teachers, parents, and other school staff to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations and modifications. The specialist is responsible for assessing student progress, maintaining compliance with educational standards, and advocating for students’ success in inclusive learning environments.

 

Responsibilities

Qualifications Education and Work Experience

 

  1. Experience working with or around K-12 children and/or families. Previous classroom experience preferred.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field required; Master’s degree in Special Education or a relevant area preferred.
  3. Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License or eligibility to obtain licensure in Ohio.
  4. Demonstrates expertise in developing, implementing, and managing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  5. Proven experience in collaborating with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other educational staff to design and deliver inclusive instruction for students with disabilities.
  6. Strong knowledge and application of multi-tiered support systems (MTSS), Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks, and other intervention strategies.
  7. Proficiency in using data-driven instruction and assessment tools.
  8. Familiarity with the Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities (AASCD) and other specialized assessments.
  9. Familiarity with the Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities, Ohio Model Policies &  Procedures, and federal and state legislation. 
  10. Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple students, IEPs, and inclusion schedules.
  11. Demonstrates ability to provide leadership and guidance to paraprofessionals and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  12. Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and adaptive learning environment.
  13. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and professional staff.

 

Salary and Benefits

  1. Contract Provisions: 191 days Limited Contract
  2. 7-12 Intervention Specialist is a full-time, exempt position. We offer a competitive salary and an excellent healthcare and retirement benefits package. Salary is confirmed via the Cincinnati Federation of Teachers (CFT) agreement.
